KinVillage: Built on Community. Growing With Purpose.

KinVillage began in 1978, when members of the local Kinsmen Club saw a need: a place in South Delta where older adults could live, connect, and thrive. Inspired by a seniors’ community in Penticton, they formed what became the Kinsmen Retirement Centre Association and partnered with government to bring their vision to life.

Much of the land was generously donated by the Winskill family, a gift that set the foundation for everything to come.

  • 1980: First residence opens

  • 1982: Community Centre for older adults opens

  • Over the next 12 years: three more residential buildings are added

  • Ongoing: major upgrades and renovations to meet changing needs

As the senior population in Canada continues to grow, so has KinVillage's commitment. Today, we support older adults through housing, recreation, outreach programs, and community partnerships including Meals on Wheels, health clinics, and the Day Program for Older Adults.

KinVillage is more than history, it’s a living legacy of care, community, and continuous evolution.

Evolving with the people we serve

The people who call KinVillage home have changed over the years—and we’ve changed with them.

In the early days, many residents in our care home were in their 60s and early 70s, often still driving and living very independently. Today, older adults are living longer than ever, and many residents are in their 80s, 90s, and beyond, often managing more complex health, mobility, or cognitive challenges.

What hasn’t changed is their spirit.
Older adults still want to live actively, stay connected, and continue contributing in meaningful ways. And because their expectations and needs have evolved, so has our community—from our programs to our services and the way we support wellbeing at every stage of aging.

Through all the changes, one thing has always remained constant:
KinVillage’s commitment to high-quality care and a community built on compassion..
