What is a Day Program for Older Adults?
Programs for Older Adults (DPOA) are essential supports that help seniors remain safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes. Home represents dignity, identity, and stability, and programs like DPOA help protect that.
DPOA strengthens physical functioning, supports cognitive health and mood, and provides crucial health monitoring such as vital signs, nutrition, hydration, and personal care needs. This proactive support often prevents small concerns from becoming serious health issues.
Just as importantly, DPOA helps combat the growing crisis of senior isolation. Nearly one in three older adults in Canada report loneliness, a risk factor linked to depression and faster cognitive decline. Regular connection and meaningful interaction can be life-changing.
And for families, DPOA offers caregiver support and respite, giving caregivers the relief, education, and emotional backing they need to continue caring with strength and compassion.
These programs aren’t just services — they are connection, safety, and dignity. And no one should have to age without them.
At KinVillage, the program is available 7 days a week for older adults living in South Delta who have established a need through a Fraser Health assessment. Our DPOA offers the following:
