Peter Guichon

Meet Peter Guichon, a proud resident of Ladner and Tsawwassen for all of his 70 years. As a fourth-generation farmer, Peter's passion for agriculture runs deep, as evidenced by his involvement in running a large vegetable farm alongside his three brothers and sister. His family's farming legacy traces back to 1879 when his great grandfather settled in Delta, purchasing 1000 acres of land and dividing it among his nine children, each starting with approximately 110 acres. Today, they are thrilled to see the sixth generation actively engaged in the farm's operations

Throughout his life, Peter's dedication to preserving and expanding the family's farming business has been unwavering. To achieve this, he took on an active role in various boards and commissions on a national scale. From serving as Director and vice chair of the B.C. Vegetable Marketing Commission from 1992 to 2021 to represent B.C. on the Canadian Horticultural Council between 1993 and 2004, Peter has left a significant mark on the agricultural industry in Canada. He is also a lifetime director of the Delta Agricultural Society and played a crucial role as Chairman and co-founder of B.C. Fresh Vegetables Inc. since 1992.Beyond his illustrious career in agriculture, Peter has a range of personal interests. He is an avid sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about hockey, fastpitch softball, trapshooting, and golf. Embracing his love for people, Peter cherishes every opportunity to connect with others.

Among his numerous accomplishments, Peter's journey in sports has been remarkable. In 1972, he was invited to practice with the Vancouver Canucks as a talented goaltender, later receiving an offer to join their training camp in Rochester, N.Y., which he humbly declined to support his father on the farm. At the age of 17, Peter's skills shone through as he secured the Canadian Trapshooting Junior championship held in Vancouver, followed by a victory in the men's category the next year in Kelowna, where he triumphed in the B.C. championship for A class and subsequently earned the top spot in the AA class.

A true advocate for community engagement and giving back, Peter has volunteered on various Delta committees, reflecting his gratitude for the support and opportunities the community has offered him. As a family-oriented individual, he cherishes quality time spent with loved ones.

Peter Guichon's life journey encompasses an incredible blend of agriculture, sports achievements, and community involvement, making him an inspiring figure in his hometown and beyond.
